THON EXPRESS ROLES ON - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

For many Penn State students, THON is considered to be the best experience that they had during their PSU years. Do not let that passion and dedication For The Kids to just become a memory because you graduated.

The THON Express is gearing up for its second year and is looking for THON alums to get involved. THON Express upholds the same Four Diamonds ideals and characteristics and is a way for you to continue to show your support for this cause that has changed the lives of so many.

THON Express LogoThe THON Express is a 135-mile run that was created with the intention of bridging the gap between the families on the 7th floor at the Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA and the Dancers at THON. Last year, in its inaugural run, The Express was completed by 16 runners (THON alums as well as Four Diamonds Families) and 5 drivers over a 24-hour period. Just as THON dancers participate in the no-sitting, no-sleeping, two-day dance marathon held every February, enduring hours of fatigue, pain and delirium, the THON Express runners and volunteers have to endure the cold, harsh, winter night, while traversing through difficult terrain. Anyone involved in either activity understands that what they are going to endure does not compare to the harsh reality of a cancer diagnosis and its treatment. Everyone involved knows that they are playing a small albeit essential role in one of Penn State's greatest and most unifying traditions. And EVERYONE knows that they are doing this For the Kids, and to honor them in their courageous battle against childhood cancer.

While the THON Express is currently looking for a few people who are interested in running, there is a greater need in the areas of coordination, promotion and logistics. Together we will continue to show our support For The Kids and help the advancement of the Four Diamonds Mission.
