Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to share with you that our Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center has been named among the nation’s best children’s hospitals by U.S. News & World Report.
We received word today that our Children’s Hospital was ranked among the top 30 children’s hospitals for treatment of respiratory disorders, which includes care for ailments such as cystic fibrosis. The rankings will be announced publicly tomorrow by U.S. News & World Report and appear in the magazine’s June 9 issue, which hits newsstands on Monday.
Three components factor into the score all children’s hospitals receive to determine their ranking: reputation, outcomes, and care-related measures—such as nursing care and advanced technology. Our ranking was achieved due in large part to our care-related measures and outcomes, meaning we were judged on the excellent work of our care providers and support staff.
Our ranking is particularly noteworthy when you consider that most of the other ranked hospitals are free-standing facilities designed specifically for the care of children.
I want to thank you for your dedication to our patients and families and hope that you share our pride in this tremendous recognition of our Children’s Hospital.
