Spanier says the reason is because of the Big Ten wanting to hold Sunday night open for a basketball game. There are several problems with this.
1.) There has never, in my recollection, been a Big Ten basketball game (men's OR women's) on a Sunday night.
2.) The visiting team would be unable to participate in a customary walk-through and practice the day before the game (Saturday).
3.) If THON were to end at 4pm, how in the world would the BJC be able to undertake the massive clean-up from THON, and set up the arena for basketball (including piecing the floor together) in under 2 hours? Assuming an 8pm tip-off, the BJC would need to be basketball-ready by 6pm (6:30pm at the absolute latest) so both teams could participate in pre-game shootarounds. It just simply isn't possible.
4.) How many people would actually attend said game after spending all day or weekend at the BJC for THON? Not many.
We all can see straight through your lies, Mr. Spanier. We know your M.O. and we're not backing down.
