UNIVERSITY PARK, pa., Jan. 27 – The Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon is proud to announce that THON 2007 will be held in the Bryce Jordan Center. The Overall Committee has been planning this move in cooperation with university officials since the committee formed last April, and has just recently received final confirmation for the move. The primary motivation for the change has been the overwhelming student support and involvement as well as a continued focus on strategic planning.
The Bryce Jordan Center, located on the east side of Penn State’s campus, is the only entertainment facility of its size in the region. Home to Penn State Basketball, this versatile center was designed to accommodate a variety of groups and events, from a twenty person meeting to a concert with 15,000 guests, and has welcomed THON with open arms.
This new facility will offer improved amenities for The Four Diamonds families whom THON supports, and will better accommodate the needs of student dancers. Due to the tremendous public interest over the past years THON has had to close its doors to the general public hours before the culmination of THON weekend. With this move, THON will be able to accommodate the thousands of visitors and ensure that no supporter will be turned away from witnessing the grand finale.
While there are many exciting possibilities for THON in the Bryce Jordan Center, the focus this year remains on the 48 hour no-sitting, no-sleeping event taking place on Penn State’s campus in its current home in Rec Hall, February 17-19. Further information detailing the move will be released at a later date.
THON is the largest student run philanthropy in the world, raising money for children with cancer. For more information on THON 2006 please visit www.THON.org.
