[b]Development Assistant
JOB DUTIES[/b]
This position provides administrative support to the VP of Foundation and Events. Manage the fundraising database, write grant proposals, direct volunteers, assist with event management, and identify new funding sources.

Purpose:[/b]
The purpose of the Development Assistant position is to assist the VP of Foundation and Events in identifying gaps in funding, and locate alternative methods of funding to close those gaps to follow the mission and vision of the agency established by the Board of Directors. Manage the fundraising database, write grant proposals, direct volunteers, assist with event management and identify new funding sources.
[b]Job Functions:[/b]
[list]Manage fundraising data base (Razor’s Edge) for Foundation, Marketplace, and Thrift Stores, including input of information on donors, acknowledgement of all gifts, preparation of reports and mailing lists.
Provide research for fundraising and program development.
Identify and define new funding resources available to the Agency, and maintain relationships with current/past donors.
Write grants and proposals for funding.
Assist with event management as needed.
Manage and direct volunteer activities including recruitment in support of Events and activities.
Develop and execute the canister fundraising campaign, and assist with other activities associated with fundraising.
Assist with executing educational and marketing programs as needed.
Work with the VP of Foundation/Events to identify and attract corporate sponsorships for Via, Via Events, & Via Foundation.
Work collaboratively with staff members to identify gaps in funding for programs/projects.
Assist in maintaining a close working relationships with the Foundation and Events Board and the ongoing functioning of this Board as it seeks to increase private and public sector funding for the Agency.
Prepare and maintain copies of all documents relating to administration of Via Foundation and Via Events.
Develop and maintain a user’s manual for fundraising software, and train staff members who data input into software.
Schedule and prepare for meetings, as well as standing and ad hoc committees; distribute meeting materials, maintain files and records.
Responsible for taking meeting minutes, and distributing them to all committee members.
Represent Via at events and projects outside the agency aimed at fundraising and increasing community support for Via in the community-at-large.
Serve on local community boards & committees to maintain and grow Via connections and leadership for initiatives.
Serve on various committees for company events and activities.

[b]Qualifications and Requirements:[/b]
[list]Bachelor’s degree required.
5 years related experience required, preferably with a non-profit organization.
Must maintain extreme confidentiality.
Possess excellent writing and communication skills, and have the ability to speak publicly.
Must be self motivated and work independently.
Must have strong analytical skills, coupled with computer proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, and Razor’s Edge software.
Must have ability to function in an ever changing environment.
Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Must be flexible with schedule.
Must have valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and appropriate vehicle insurance. [/list]

Bachelor’s Degree and 3 yrs experience in related field required. Experience working with non profits in Development a plus.
