3rd Annual Links with Lachie Golf Tournament
As most of you know, on November 4, 2006 our 4-year-old son, Lachlan, was diagnosed with an aggressive malignant tumor of the orbit of the eye. The six months that followed the diagnosis were very challenging times for our family. We struggled with life and death scenarios of our youngest son as we supported him through an exhaustive schedule of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
One guiding light through these trying times came in the form of the Four Diamonds Fund. Since 1972, the Fund has enabled Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital to provide superior care to patients while funding innovative research to cure these terrible diseases. The Fund also provides peace of mind to families of patients by offsetting medical and every day expenses. To date, the Four Diamonds Fund has supported more than 2,000 families. Without their support, Lachlan would not be where he is today – two years cancer free!
To give back, we established the annual Links with Lachie Golf Tournament in 2007 - an annual fundraising golf tournament whose proceeds are directly donated to the Fund. Over the last two years with the support and generosity of our players and sponsors, we’ve raised over $15,000 for the Fund.
While your support has helped make the tournament a wonderful success, our work is far from over. Each year, the Four Diamonds Fund assists 90 new families trying to cope with the same devastating diagnosis our family heard on November 4, 2006.
The 3rd Annual Links with Lachie Golf Tournament will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at the Range End Golf Club in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania.
